Saints cruise to OCAA semi-finals

Four days of game planning paid off for The St. Clair women's volleyball team as they beat Algonquin in straight sets to open the OCAA provincial championships in North Bay Wednesday afternoon.

"I'm really proud of our focus and professional approach to the match.". said head coach Jimmy El-Turk.

Shalena Horst knocked down nine kills while setter Kim Quintanilla, who was named St. Clair's player of the game, chalked up 36 assists as St. Clair rolled the Thunder 25-15, 25-12 and 25-11

El-Turk though his team "played very clean, team volleyball today." He added, "Our setters did a great job of distributing the offence and keeping our attackers in rhythm".

St. Clair now face Fanshawe in the semi-finals Friday night at six. The season series was a split with the Falcons winning 3-0 in early November while the Saints beat Fanshawe in late January 3-1.

El-Turk feels his team matches up well against the defending provincial champs, "

It will come down to which team can control the serve and pass battle and whether we can stop their All-Canadian".
