by Sierra Ross

Jerry Kilpimaa scored the game winner in the second period and also had an assist to lead Kingsville Kings to a series clinching 4-2 win against the Northumberland Stars Monday night.

After losing the first game of their best-of-three first round series The Kings won two straight to advance to the second round.

“It was a big one we needed to finish off this series, and it brought us the next series against St. George,” said winger Kade Coussens.

The Kings will face the top seed St. George Ravens who tasted defeat only eight times this season. Kingsville won just won of six games against the Ravens during the regular season.

“If we put all we got into it, then we'll be fine and make it through,” said Coussens. “I think just putting a little bit more effort in and getting down to it and taking the hits to make the play. I think we can do something with it and come out positive.”

The Kings start the best of five series on the road Thursday.
