Jillian Friyia and Tyler Hurtubise each notched their 4th win of the season during todays' Jamieson Junior Golf Tour event at Beach Grove. Hurtubise shot a 69 to share the jr. boys victory with Steven Hill. "I continue to put the ball in the fairway and the result is good scores" said Hurtubise.
For Hill, this was his last event of the season as he leaves to Adrian College in MIchigan on scholarship later this week. "I've come close to Tyler in quite a few events including the Essex-Kent tournament last year and several Jamieson events this year where I lost by on stroke. It was nice to finally catch up to him for a change".
Hurtubise, the current OFSAA champ, posted four birdies and one bogey Monday, " and it was mostly because of my play off the tee" said the 17-year old who hopes to stay hot and claim his second straight title.
Friyia shot a 78 to edge out Vanessa Ardovini and Kyla Charlebois by one shot for her fourth win in four events. "Not the best day on the course but happy to birdie the last hole to come out with the win" said the London golfer has a three-and-a half point lead over Kennedy Fremlin for the overall lead in the jr. girls division. "Feels great to get to keep the winning streak alive".
Alex Saroli earned his second win of the summer in the Collegiate Boys division. He shot an impressive four-under par 68 after recording five birdies including three in his final three holes of the day.
Brooke MacKinnon shot a 75 to capture her second win of the season in the Collegiate Girls division.
The next event is August 20th at Rochester Place.
